The suburb of Hope Island has a longer history and was named after colonial aristocrat Captain Louis Hope, who was granted land at the mouth of the Coomera River in recognition of his contributions to developing the sugar industry in Queensland.
Perfectly positioned on the northern tip of the Gold Coast, Hope Island is a short distance from the Pacific Motorway (M1), only 50 minutes’ drive north to Brisbane city and 20 minutes south to Surfers Paradise.
Hope Island offers a marina, shops, restaurants, theme parks, public and private schools and three golf courses all within close proximity and is home to the Hope Island Resort and neighbouring Sanctuary Cove.

There is always a good reason to treat yourself to some authentic Cantonese Chinese dishes and dumplings, and Dragon Cove is the perfect place to indulge your senses, whilst enjoying the water views of Sanctuary Cove marina. Our recommendation is that you try Chef’s specialty, the amazing Peking Duck, which is always cooked fresh and carved right under your nose at the table.
The Fireplace Restaurant
The Fireplace at Sanctuary Cove showcases wood-fire cuisine at its finest. Locally sourced dishes are seasoned with produce from the restaurant’s herb garden and infused with smoky flavour after leaving the Chef’s onsite wood-fire oven. Artichoke provides a relaxed atmosphere with waterside dining at Sanctuary Cove. Their Chefs fuse modern Australian, Indian, French, Italian and Asian flavours to create dishes that will wow your senses.
