High Vibes

If good food, delectable drinks and fun are your sort of thing, then look no further than Burleigh’s Light Years Asian Bar & Diner.

Started by three friends from Melbourne, their unique dining concept first took shape in 2017 in beautiful Byron Bay.

Fast-forward three years and the team added a Noosa location and most recently the Gold Coast’s beautiful Burleigh Heads to their offering.

With executive chef Robbie Oijvall at the helm – please note the animal print party shirt – prepare yourself for food that is colourful, bold and above all… delicious.

Formerly of China Diner fame, Oijvall really knows his Asian cuisine and is famous for his punchy and unforgettable flavours.

Picture the spicy Korean fried chicken with cucumber, house made ranch dressing and lettuce to whet your appetite.

And the crowd favourite – a mouthwatering kingfish ceviche with coconut, chilli and kaffir lime.

If you fancy a tipple, the vast selection of cocktails are real showstoppers.

The Geisha Sour – labelled, ‘Aromatic and luscious. Like a geisha’ – is made from Ink Gin, umeshu, lemon, bitters and foam.

Or if you can’t go past an espresso martini, try the Light Years take on the classic, with a coconut twist. Featuring Granddad Jack’s Penny vodka and coffee liqueurs, cold drip espresso, coconut cream and toasted coconut.

Nestled on the Lower Gold Coast Highway, you can’t help but notice the colourful diner as you drive by and think to yourself…we need to go there.

Step inside and you won’t want to leave, with its vibrant wallpaper, terracotta tiles, breezeblocks and velvet chairs. It’s certainly a feast for the eyes.

With an array of good tunes pumping seven days a week, Light Years is not the place for a romantic candlelit dinner but to grab your mates, dress to impress and have a great time.

Executive chef, Robbie Oijvall
