A sun-kissed staycation
Though the Queensland border has recently re-opened for travellers heading south, we’ve enjoyed exploring our own state during this time of limited travel and nearby staycations.
And Noosa, the jewel of the Sunshine Coast, has time and time again lured us in with its sun-kissed sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters and vivaciously vibrant dining and retail offering.
What was once the go-to place for the rich and famous, in recent years Noosa began to lose its sheen as things got a little tired and the blossoming towns of northern NSW began to boom.
Yet Noosa is experiencing somewhat of a revival. Renewed investment in infrastructure and development, and a recent resurgence in popularity has propelled the town back into the limelight.
And we’re pegging it as the place to visit for a chic and relaxed beachside getaway this summer season.
Here’s our round up of the best things to do, see and eat in Noosa.
DO
- It’s time to dust off your old boat license and re-acquaint yourself with waterway etiquette because a great summer activity is to hire a boat and explore the beautiful Noosa River and Everglades. You can hire a boat from O Boat Hire.
- Don’t forget to pack your runners because a journey through Noosa National Park is a must. Meander along the trail spotting koalas in the shady gum trees and stop for a dip or two along the way.
- Get your Gidget on and give longboarding a go atop the gentle point waves around First Point and Little Cove. You can hire a board from Golden Breed.
- Fish and chips by the river with a bottle of light and fresh vermentino is a lovely way to pass an afternoon.
- Take a stroll down the bustling and iconic Hastings Street for some window (or actual) shopping at Noosa’s many boutiques. Then stop for a coffee at Aromas and enjoy some people watching.
- Sprawl out a picnic rug and experience happy hour and the stunning sunset at Main Beach.
EAT
- Providore on Hastings Street is your go-to for gourmet picnic supplies.
- Enjoy a slice or two and a glass of chianti at El Capitano pizza.
- Betty’s Burgers always provides a fun, filling and tasty meal in a pinch.
- Padre Coffee in Noosaville is where all the cool kids get their morning brew.
- Locale or Bistro C for a romantic dinner for two.
STAY
- Luxury Rainforest Retreat in Little Cove.
- The Waternest houseboat located in the Noosa River.
- Little Cove Court is another winner.
- The four-bedroom abode Poinciana House.
- Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort is located in the hub of Hastings Street.
- Stunning Hamptons-style Tingirana Noosa.
